During the Fall 2020 semester, 4th-year Architecture student Andrew Yu participated in two very unique courses taught by Assistant teaching Professor Daniele Profeta.

In ARC 571 Survey of Italian Architecture and ARC 408 Architectural Design VII both professor and his students explored new high-performance computing capabilities developed by the Researching Computing arm of Syracuse University’s Information Technology Services (ITS).

We sat down with Andrew (virtually via Zoom) to hear what that semester was like and learn how this essential technology was integrated into Professor Profeta’s digital site survey in the borgo of Castiglione d’Orcia in Tuscany as well as students’ final projects.
